2016 ANNUAL BANQUET

2016 3rd ANNUAL BANQUET SUMMARY:

Friday 13 May found many of our members dining at Maple Terrace with dinner music and hearing excellent reports from our Director Sharon Kline, Treasurer Terry Slauhbaugh, and a fine talk by Chaz Haywood, Clerk of District Court Harrisonburg/Rockingham County.

Sharon presented a plaque containing Founding Members’ names which will be displayed in the Museum.  She listed many folks who have helped this year and commented on their gifts, efforts, and commitment.  She announced the addition of a member to the Board, Judy Galang, and also alerted us to the upcoming Old Bridgewater Stories project which will be coordinated by member Adair McConnell and assisted by Tom Matheny and by Dr. Scott Jost of Bridgewater College, with the addition of a summer intern to be appointed soon.

Sharon showed us some items from the museum and thanked the folks who donated the beautiful new wooden display panels now holding the Civil War portraits and Hobo displays.

Mr. Haywood’s talk was very interesting especially in its details about records and public documents of all kinds.  His purview even included a trip to the Court House Clock and its historic Bell, and the recently re-installed Fisk Stature ‘Lady with Bird’ on the plaza of the building.  We heard about a lot of very interesting very old documents, reports, and signatures of historic items in the City and County collections.

We thank everyone involved in the planning and execution of the program!
